In 1992, Ideal Electric's Management created the Electro-Mechanical Division to provide services primarily to the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (WASA) in Electrical and Mechanical Systems Maintenance.
At that time, Ideal Electrical Supply bid and won the DCWASA- ANNUAL ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE CONTRACT. The contract was to supply eight highly qualified electricians for preventive and remedial maintenance on electrical process equipment, controls, and motors. For the past 13 years IES/ IEMD has worked and is currently working on this project, but now have 10 electricians at the site working full time.
In 1994 Ideal Electrical Supply bid and won the DCWASA- ANNUAL MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE CONTRACT. The contract was to supply eight highly qualified millwrights for preventive and remedial maintenance to mechanical process equipment, including horizontal and vertical pumps, sludge collection equipment, and process piping and conveying equipment. IES/ IEMD worked on this project for four years and completed many tasks including Nitrification Sedimentation basins rebuild in 1996. This latter task
In 2003 IES/IEMD sub-contracted to General Contractor Fru-Con on the DCWASA Blue Plains Waste Water Treatment Plant Secondary Treatment upgrade Phase 2 project to install all mechanical process piping and equipment. IES/IEMD has built a good working reputation with Fru-Con and has been awarded two other major projects with Fru-Con, at Kent Narrows, Maryland WWTP and Loudoun County Virginias new Broad Run WWTP.
IES/IEMD prides itself in the fact that it has highly qualified craftsman such as electricians, millwrights, pipe fitters, welders, and a management staff with over 100 years of combined experience in water, waste water treatment plant maintenance and construction.
