Jan Adams: President and CEO
Janice “Jan” Adams has been the President and CEO of Ideal Electrical Supply Corporation since acquiring the company on November 16, 2021. She is a 24-year Air Force Veteran and retired at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Jan overseas the Maintenance, Repair and Operations on the utilities and construction contracts support that we provide to our clients.
Jan is very active in the community and serves as a board member of the Mamie Mallory Education and Scholarship Foundation, the African American Civil War Museum, and is an Honorary Board Member of the Thelma D. Jones Breast Cancer Fund. She is a member of the DC Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Club of Washington, DC, the Arena Stage Theater’s Board of Directors, and the University of the District of Columbia’s Foundation. In addition, she is a corporate partner of the D.C. Adopt-a-School program. She was previously appointed by the DC Mayor, Muriel Bowser, to Co-Chair the Mayor’s Build Back Better Infrastructure Task Force.
Jan was the recipient of the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023, the 2019 DC Chamber of Commerce’s Chairman’s Choice Award, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Mid-Atlantic Region and she was inducted into the Washington, DC Hall of Fame for her dedication and outstanding contributions to the DC business community.
Jan is also the Founder and CEO of JMA Solutions, an aviation consulting firm she founded in 2005. She is a Co-Owner and Co-Principal of JMA Energy Solutions specializing in EV infrastructure for local, state and federal governments. Both companies are based in Washington, DC.
She is the mother of two, grandmother of seven and great grandmother of eight.
Executive Vice President
Ron Adams: Executive Vice President
Ron Adams spent over 17 years supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a financial and budget analyst and performing risk management duties. He budgeted for and managed several million dollars of FAA travel funds that supported training for FAA personnel in support of the safety of their flying mission. He input and maintained budget information in the FAA accounting system, DELPHI, REGIS, and provided quarterly briefings to upper-level management on travel budgetary levels. He trained incoming FAA personnel on the travel management system. He organized conferences that included over 100 personnel.
Ron has over 40 years of experience in general home renovation and rehabilitations. He is knowledgeable in several areas such as repairing automobiles, renovating bathrooms, kitchens, basements, doing various home projects from dry wall to low voltage electricity. Ron is very involved in the real estate investing, buying, repairing, and selling of properties.
Ron graduated from high school at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. He received a Business Finance Certificate and a Business Vocational Technical Certificate in Information Technology/Electronics Systems Technician. He also attended the University of the District of Columbia.
Director of Operations
MayB Sersland: Director of Operations
MayB Sersland is the Director of Operations for Ideal Electrical Supply Corporation.
She directly oversees all non-constructions sales, administration, and warehouse operations. She joined the ideal team in early 2017.
MayB joined the United States Army as a Private after graduating from High School and continued to serve for over 24 years, retiring in 2016 as a Lieutenant Colonel. While in the Army she earned a Bachelor's degree and a Master’s degree from the University of Maryland. She served in the Army communications field until she became Staff Sergeant, at which time, she attended Officer Candidate School becoming an Engineer Officer. She later transitioned to being a Logistician.
She served in many capacities to include exceptional service during war time as a Detachment Commander in Afghanistan, Security Force Assistance Officer in Afghanistan and Personnel Officer in Iraq earning her two Bronze Stars.
MayB participates in several organizations within the Electrical Distributor industry such as National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), Utility Supply Management Alliance (USMA), and Edison Electric Institute (EEI).
Director of Construction Sales
Larry Dorman: Director of Construction Sales
As the current Director of Construction Sales of Ideal Electrical Supply Corporation, Larry currently leads a multi-state team specializing in medium and low voltage electrical substation sales serving commercial, government and residential construction clients.
Prior to joining the Ideal Electrical Supply team, Larry served as the large project sales engineer and project manager with General Electric Electrical Distribution & Control, and Siemens Industry for 26 years. Among his many contributions, he served as the team lead on projects such as the Washington Waterfront Wharf Phase I and II, Audi DC Soccer Stadium, and St. Elizabeth Central Utility Plant. Larry has also worked on many other landmark projects between New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington.
Larry earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Towson State University many years ago. He enjoys golfing, hiking and museum explorer. He is also currently serving as a volunteer Senior Warden to the historic St. Paul’s Rock Creek Church located in Washington DC.
David Young: Controller
David Young is a detail-oriented accounting professional and has over 20 years’ experience supporting Ideal Electrical Supply Corporation, a wholesale electrical supplier in Washington, D.C. He currently serves as the Controller and overseas the firm’s operational accounting and produces the financial reports and maintains the accounting system and cash flow. He supervises the accounting staff in the areas of construction, utilities, financial reporting, financial statement preparation and analysis, journal entries and reconciliations. Other of his responsibilities include processing bi-weekly payroll, analyzing and reconciling specific General Ledger accounts for year-end review and annual audits. He worked annually with outside auditors to ensure all documentation was presented for annual financial audits. Previously he was also the HR Manager
Prior to joining Ideal, David supported Winstar Telecommunications in the accounts payable department where he was responsible for Winstar’s large accounts as well as administrative and accounting duties. He reviewed and monitored vendor statements related to fixed and non-fixed assets. He ensured vendor payments were made in a timely manner and he prepared accounts payable reconciliation reports.
David has experience in various software applications such as: Solar Eclipse, PeopleSoft, Practical Accounting Systems (PAS), Accpac, Pro Series and the Microsoft Suite.
David has over 22 years of accounting experience and is a graduate of DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio and carries a Bachelor of Accounting degree.
Antonio Batts: Warehouse Manager
Antonio Batts serves as the Warehouse Manager at Ideal Electrical Supply Corp and has over 13 years of experience in warehousing.
At Ideal Electric, Antonio oversees supervising warehouse employees and ensuring they follow safety procedures and policies.
As Warehouse Manager, Antonio is the connection between clients, transportation companies, and suppliers. He makes sure the logistical process is seamless and ensures the rest of the team members do as well.
Antonio has over 7 years of experience in management roles and has obtained certificates in logistics and business management.
Antonio is a native Washingtonian, graduating high school at Eastern Senior High. Antonio is also an entrepreneur, having created several different startup businesses within the Washington, D.C. area. He’s also a huge fan of all the local professional sports teams. Antonio enjoys attending sporting events, traveling, fishing, bowling, and bike riding.
